The Prospects finally available on DVD!

So, my brother David's first feature film, The Prospects, which cycled through festivals East and West, and premiered on IFC's Sundance Channel, is now finally available to purchase--through my brother!!!

HERE!!!

Two friends, Charlie and Ted, plot to rob an old man of his baseball card collection in order to fund their future recording studio. However, Charlie falls for the old man’s Jamaican nurse, throwing a wrench in their plans, and their friendship.

Amazing and outrageous performances by the silent stud, Charlie (Hewson), his quirky friend, Ted (Eric Edelstein), the gorgeous Jamaican maid, Cherise (Simone Moore), and many more beautiful and not-so-stunningly beautiful characters! Written and directed by my brilliant, funny-as-hell brother, David Brundige.

Oh, and did I forget to mention the music? Brilliant, quirky-as-shit, indie, sincere songs by The Prospects' own Charlie Hewson. If you're tired of Jens Lekman and looking for someone new, I wholly recommend Charlie.

This is a fun, and heart-felt romp your whole family can enjoy. Well, maybe not the little kids :) But definitely the dog.

Please, please, please, help my brother out while doing yourself a favor, and buy one of his beautiful, professional DVDs, and enjoy the film, again, and again.

If you're in college and you're like, "Ugh, $20! Too much." Consider splitting the cost with your roommate, and screening the baby whilst enjoy a few + beers together. You are guaranteed to become best bros.

Comedy Bang Bang plays "Pubertina"!

Comedy Bang Bang, one of my favorite podcasts, played the Pubertina song! I was totally tickled to hear Scott Aukerman, Paul Rust, Jimmy Pardo, and Rob Delaney laugh, criticize, and just generally "BRO-OUT" on my song. They over-think my super anglo last name when trying to pronounce it, which always cracks me up. Also, they basically give a good review of my song, which is very rare on this podcast. It's super fun (and fun-ny) to hear what they have to say. "Pubertina" comes in at 59:19. Give it a listen. Please. Here.

My Friend, Donavan

Donavan Freberg is a friend I met a few years ago through my ex-boyfriend's roommate, Dave. The first time I met him he was about to leave for a session with his therapist. He told me that they were a bit like Harold and Maude, he and his therapist, which temporarily captured my heart. His girlfriend (at the time), Sara, gave me a copy of The Phantom Tollbooth for my birthday one year. Magical people.

Donavan is a very talented photographer. Here is his website. He is also a clever writer, a sentimental puppeteer, and amazing creative force in general. He's written a lot about his upbringing: being the son of famous adman, comedian, voice actor, etc., Stan Freberg, and growing up in L.A. with the 90210 area code, blissfully spoiled, and unaware of what lay ahead of him. Here's a part of a video series he made, working through his issues with his father using a puppet:

His niece, Rylee Jean Ebsen just finished a wonderful little film based on Donavan's life, and includes both the ups and downs. Donavan co-wrote the script, and provided the voiceover/narration for the main character (based on himself):

I hope Donavan continues to write stories, and work on other creative projects. He has a lot to offer this world. Someday I hope to have him do a voice for a character in one of my future films--just don't have a good part for him yet.

I should also mention that Donavan has provided a lot of internet support and enthusiasm for me in all of my creative pursuits. He is probably one of my biggest fans!
